About Me
Hello and thanks for visiting the Test Prep Spot! My name is Elizabeth Yoshida and I’m a credentialed public school teacher and private tutor. I have over 10 years of experience in education, teaching students in both middle and high school. I have a master’s degree in education and I specialize in working with students with learning disabilities.
English is my first language and I’ve been fortunate to not struggle with learning, yet everyday I work with students who are challenged with language. Through this experience, I’ve learned how to break down difficult concepts into simpler ideas. This uncomplicated and straightforward methodology is what makes the Test Prep Spot valuable.
I created the Test Prep Spot for students who struggle with English. My goal is to improve students’ language skills - specifically those skills tested on college entrance exams. The materials are broken down into single-concept lessons. I use words and examples that are easy to understand, so the concept doesn’t get lost in trying to understand vocabulary.
It’s always nice to know a little bit about your teacher’s personal life, right? I live in the California Bay Area with my husband and two sons. When I’m not working with students or trying to keep up with my boys, I enjoy cooking, gardening, and reading.
Although I have been teaching for over 10 years in a traditional setting, this is my first venture into the online educational space. Currently, the Lessons and Practice (both coming very soon) focus on grammar, and I will be adding Reading Comprehension materials. I’m always looking for ways to improve and I welcome your feedback. I would also love to hear about other topics you’d like to see covered here. You can contact me at testprepspot@gmail.com. Once again, thanks for visiting the Test Prep Spot.
Sincerely
,
Elizabeth
